The Amira Gohara, MD Festschrift Scientific Symposium will gather thought leaders from the University of Toledo College of Medicine and beyond to commemorate the academic legacy of a former Dean and current Department Chair at the College of Medicine and Life Sciences at the University of Toledo. Given Dr. Gohara's expertise in renal medicine and pathology, the congregation of experts in these domains will provide a review of contemporary knowledge of this controversial and thought-provoking material. In addition, the Symposium will review current concepts in medical education and leadership in recognition of Dr. Gohara's exemplary support of the academic mission of the College.

1. Implement medical therapy in indigenous heart failure patients while understanding the intersection of cardiac and renal disease.
2. Understand the implications of pregnancy following renal transplantation.
3. Understand the utilization of immunohistochemistry in surgical pathology, including its use in the diagnosis of renal disease.
4. Understand the mechanism of uremic platelet dysfunction.
5. Describe sodium pump signaling in uremic cardiomyopathy.
6. Describe techniques of deep learning in contemporary undergraduate and graduate medical education.
